Schedule a private 60 min prenatal or postnatal yoga session with Tawny Sterios, Hatha yoga teacher and Doula for over 15 years, and receive a guided practice that focuses on the physical and mental benefits of yoga during these powerful windows of time that pregnancy and postpartum are.

Learn how yoga can powerfully support you through both your labor, birth, and postpartum needs and journey. By utilizing pranayama (breathing techniques) and specific physical postures that meet your body’s current unique needs, a woman then begins to create a strong and flexible body (and mindset) that will help her through this special time in her life.

By practicing yoga poses that are safe to do during pregnancy you are able to strengthen and also create flexibility, support the nervous system, balance hormones, stress levels, bring awareness to one’s pelvic floor, and the innate power that is the female body. Naturally calming, yoga instills trust in the body and its ability to birth and or recover from birth. For prenatal yoga attention can be placed on opening the hips, stabilizing the hips, strengthening the legs, relieving low back pain, offering poses that comfort common pregnancy symptoms like nausea, swelling, and round ligament pain. Mothers will be learning meditation and breathing techniques that they can use in labor and beyond. Prenatal yoga was essential to my pregnancy and birth journey and I so love sharing and passing down these tools with other mamas.

A Postnatal yoga private will likely focuses on restoring the body post-birth, it aims to slowly rebuild one’s core and pelvic strength in a mindful and safe way. Common ailments during this time are diastasis recti, low back pain, shoulder tension, pelvic prolapse, pelvic pain, and fatigue. Mindful movements and breathing can help alleviate these complaints and bring the needed attention the body needs during this transformative time. personal attention will be given to address your body, the birth you just had and what is needed, this can be very different for everyone.
